I am Ambreen Ahsan, a pulsating speck in this grand scheme called universe. I have no idea where I have come from and absolutely no idea where I am heading. I oscillate between feelings of love and pain. I am currently living in the folds of a body but I have unrestricted access to imagery. All around me is a maze of beauty which I share with fellow specks like you.
My body just like yours, likes to hide behind many personas. If you ask my body she will probably tell you she was born in Pakistan where she received her early education in a christian missionary school. She was raised by her grandfather, a sufi saint. Her husband is from India and her children were born in US. She will emphasize she is a devoted wife and mother. She will tell you about her religion and that she is a physician who particularly empathizes with the fragile adolescent population.
Dare to penetrate this persona and you will be surprised to find your mirror image staring right back at you. Just like me you are seeking something larger than us. Just like you I am going in circles. Our experiences have been different but we have shared that common feeling of pain. I am not about me but about us. The Africans coined us beautifully in their philosophy of ubuntu. I am because you are. You are because I am.
Behind our personas and our pain we belong together. You and me and all of us.
