1989

Tiny bleeding feet on life’s broken dreams

In the shadow of an aspiring society queen

Pelted by stones of her despair

Told that pain for girls is fair

Protected by a shell, bred on hopes and fear

Strengthened by faith, sure that God cares

Feeling ill equipped amidst failures and glories

Tiny shaky steps ascending many stories

Came 1989, an encounter and the ghabbi died

Two small sharp eyes and I became mesmerized

Miraculous alignment, perfect harmony

Forces unknown, supreme divinity

With amazement we watched our hearts multiply

We saw our extensions emerge with a cry

Twenty years have since flown by

mystic rain keeps pouring from the sky.
