920,000 kilometers

I shimmered, I glimmered

like million blinking fairy lights

Across 920,000 kilometers*

of axons, neurons and dendrites.

All the way to the moon and back

Giddy in love, yet strangely aware

catching stars spinning out of nowhere

pilgrimage in a three pound affair.

Back into chaos of rules that demarcate

hugging integrity no matter what it takes

like the molten chocolate inside lava cake

memories simmer amidst muted heartache

In front of the mirror finally free to see

920,000 kilometers staring back at me

beyond my skin, my style, my degree

face to face with someone larger than me.

*920,000 kilometers is the scientifically calculated and proved length of all fibers in a human brain. The adult human brain weighs approximately 3 pounds.

Distance between earth and moon is 384,400 kilometers.

So my anatomy teacher was actually right when she said that if you unfold the neurons in your brain, it is long enough to take you to the moon and back!!!!
