Minimally Displaced

The drops of water in ocean waves,

Move in little circles in one place

Energy flows as waves begin, grow and fade

But drops within remain minimally displaced.

These huge waves linear in time,

leave water drops barely moving behind,

Earth doesn’t get flooded due to this design

This scientific fact just boggles my mind.

Behind the kaleidoscope of our emotions

Behind our exaggerated pompous notions

Are we like those drops in circular motion

As life energy uses us for locomotion.

Walking on a beach one night very late

Full moon drawing tides eerie and great

water drops like Rumi’s whirling dervaish

told me this journey is circular not straight.
